Suntegrity

The pain, suffering and tragedy that we all encounter in life certainly are life changing experiences in one way or another. We don’t know why we put ourselves through this contrast, but the results of events that change the dynamics of life are usually a life expanding awakening of some kind. In other words, our awareness of life expands from the passing of another life or from some painful episode that exposes our emotional vulnerability.

Tricia Trimble experienced one of those events and it was an awakening. She followed her impulses and developed the Suntegrity line after her mother died of skin cancer. Suntegrity was born from a Master’s thesis that Tricia wrote while attending the University of Santa Monica. In her third year of the Master’s program her final project was to develop her own sun care line and she called it Suntegrity Skincare. The line was officially lunch in 2010. The spark or impulse that gave her the idea to create this innovative line was a by-product of death and her desire to honor her mom.

The Suntegrity concept actually took 4 years to become a reality. Tricia started thinking about it in 2006. The name has a double meaning: It’s sunscreen made with integrity and sunscreen that maintains the integrity of your skin. The chemical compounds used to make the initial product all had low toxicity ratings and Tricia made sure she avoided parabens and phenoxyethenol. When her line was introduced it immediately got high ratings from the Environmental Working Group. (EWG)

Suntegrity is a holistic line, which treats the body as a whole from the outside-in and the inside-out. The outside-in products include topical face and body sunscreens that are formulated with safety in mind, and the inside-out product line includes a dietary supplement that provides the body with powerful antioxidants that protect against photoaging and UV damage. The supplement also contains Vitamin D3, which the body is unable to make while wearing sunscreen.

The face and body sunscreens are laced with essential oils, which give them a light citrus aroma. That aroma separates them from the odd smelling sunscreens that crowd the market. The other valuable properties are quick absorption into the skin without leaving a white residue, plus it hydrates the skin while it’s blocking UV rays.

Suntegrity promotes itself as “a natural, healthy and holistic mineral sun care line” because all the ingredients are non-toxic, and there are no chemical UV absorbers in the formula, plus all formulas are designed to treat the body as a whole.

The ingredients in the Face Protection include red algae extract, which is rich in antioxidants, minerals, enzymes, phyto-hormones and reduces irregular pigmentation and essential fatty acids. Astaxanthin is also in the formula. Astaxanthin is a powerful antioxidant and carotenoid found in algae. It has up to 500 times higher efficacy than vitamin E. In both the face and body sunscreens the ingredients include tea oil, pomegranate oil, hyaluronic acid, and cucumber extract. They are all powerful antioxidants and great for the skin.
