Aloe
Vera Skin Care
A member of the
Lily family, the Aloe Vera plant has been
used in medications and cosmetics for hundreds
of years. The plant itself contains a gel
with an almost identical pH balance to that
of human skin giving it an almost uncanny
ability to heal. The clear cool gel has the
ability to moisturize and heal like nothing
else in nature.
Native to southern
Florida but used by cultures around the world,
the Aloe Vera plant grows out in spires with
the thicker more mature leaves harvested for
their healing gel. For skin care purposes, some people skip the processing
of the gel completely and simply apply broken
open leaves directly to the skin. This is
what makes the Aloe Vera plant so unique;
the fact that it doesn't require any kind
of distillation. The gel produced inside the
growing plant is a topical analgesic moisturizer.
Aloe Vera gel
has also been known to increase collagen production
in the skin, which is what maintains youthful
looking skin. In addition, a potent combination
of nutritions effectively allows new cells
to be produced at a healthier rate. Some people
actually take it internally as it has
in some cases improved the immune system and
regulated digestion. It's no wonder that Aloe
Vera has been called the Miracle Plant. Cleopatra
herself was said to use the gel of the plant as well as products from the Dead Sea..
