The Dead Sea has had an important role in biblical history. When King David fled
from Saul he took refuge in Ein Gedi near its shores. The cities of Sodom and Gomorrah
are thought to have existed on it's southeast corner. Among the many palaces that King Herod built there, was the Masada famous as the stronghold
where a handful of Jewish faithful held out against a whole legion of Roman soldiers before
